Increased Web Site Traffic - How to Get More Traffic to Your Web Site

Before you learn how to get more traffic to your website, you should have a good look at the site itself, and make sure there are no glaring SEO omissions that could make an immediate improvement to your search engine listings.

Do all your page headings contain the keyword for the page? In fact is every page written on a single keyword, or are you trying a catch-all that never works? Every page should be themed on one keyword that appears in the heading. The headings themselves should be contained in html tags to let the search engines know the most important text on the page. Spiders look at H1 tags, not at keyword meta tags.

Are there any other errors such as using the same heading on more than one page? Do you have too many links away from a page that are bleeding content and leading search engine crawlers away from you page? If so block them from the spiders using the “nofollow” attribute. Especially block any links to affiliate sites. Make sure that the heading is the first text the spider reads, and realize that they do not recognize flash animation code or Java code. Use real text for the headings, not Java graphics.

Having checked all these elementary errors in web site design (there are many others but these are the more common) you are ready to learn how to get more traffic to your web site using advertising and internet marketing techniques such as web site and article submission.
