Guaranteed Web Site Traffic - Does It Exist?
Is there any such thing as guaranteed web site traffic? Despite my natural aversion to anything that offers to be a 'sure thing' (it usually isn't!), you'll be pleased to know that guaranteed web site traffic does in fact exist. While the exact amount of traffic can itself not be guaranteed, the task of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is concerned with making sure you do indeed get traffic to you web site.
So what is SEO? Essentially, it's what you do to your web site to make sure it's guaranteed to show up well in search engine rankings. The logic is pretty obvious. The more your web site shows up well in the results of the web searches people are making, the more guaranteed traffic your site will get.
There are two key aspects to SEO and hence generating guaranteed web site traffic:
The first is relevance. The content of each page on your web site must be relevant to the things people are putting into search engines. If it isn't, the search engine won't send any traffic your way. The big thing to understand here is that while your web site may be relevant in general to the terms people are searching for, search engines are looking for laser-focussed web pages. People using their services need to be guaranteed relevant results. So rather then covering all kinds of topic on the same page, allocate only one or two key terms to a web page. Keep the page relatively short and make sure your keyword density (the percentage of text taken up by the exact words searched) is a good 3-6%. Don't overdo it -- or the search engines will assume you're spamming to try and get guaranteed traffic (and penalise your web site for it).
The second crucial aspect of generating guaranteed web site traffic through SEO is the number of links to your website from other sites that are themselves relevant to your keywords. Watch out for offers on the web selling guaranteed bulk links -- these are often poor in quality and will in fact harm your traffic chances.
Finally, a word here about 'outbound links' (i.e. from your web page to another, either on your site or another), which are also important for rankings and traffic. Make sure that your link text (the text on your site people click on to link to another web page) includes the main search term of the target web page you're sending people to. Google attributes link text to the target page -- as actually being on the target page -- and will like you for this. Links also carry even more weight if the text around them is concerned with the target web page's topic and search term(s).
While these SEO tasks can be performed manually, they can be awfully time and labour intensive -- especially link-building. That's why expensive SEO companies have traditionally had such a corner on the market, charging you thousands of dollars to generate guaranteed web site traffic. Thankfully though a number of inexpensive tools have recently been developed that will allow you to automate much of the job yourself.
Here's one tool I have found to be particularly good value for money. It's very affordable, user friendly, automates a lot of SEO tasks (including finding and contacting high quality link partners and comparing your web site to your competitors) and has a proven track record in enabling website owners to produce guaranteed web site traffic themselves.
